ORDERING

We stock our rattan webbings as a standard 15m length roll.
We will cut it to length based on your order quantity and send it out as a single roll.

For example, if you need 2.5m in length, please select your desired width and add 2 quantities of 1m and 1 quantity of 0.5m. You will receive a single roll of 2.5m length.

DIY TIPS

Most common ways of fastening the webbing include stapling the overhangs on the back of timber frame, preferably with a rebate and finish off with timber trim. For furniture restoration, clean out the existing groove from debris and fit the webbing with wood glue and new rattan core pith (usually 1mm smaller than size of groove). To secure webbing directly onto panel backing, use contact adhesive (webbing must be dry for this method).
We recommend soaking the product in water for 15-20 minutes to make it more pliable and easy to work with. After fastening, the rattan webbing will tighten as it dries off.
We do not recommend sealing the rattan webbing on the back side with lacquer varnish or paint. The back side is porous and it allows the rattan cane to breathe, sealing it will make it brittle in the long run.
Maintain using boiled linseed oil or orange oil for longevity, but expect the rattan colour to darken with age.
It is common for the rattan webbing to slightly loosen over prolonged periods of high humidity, but will tighten again when conditions are drier.

A great shopping experience

This was my first shopping experience with Direct Factory Furniture. I wil certainly go back to them for future needs. The website was particularly easy to navigate in terms of selecting the material required and also placing the order. Delivery was very prompt.
My project involved taking a bentwood chair with holes around the perimeter of the seat to accommodate a traditional hand woven seat, and then using my Milescraft Circle Cutter and plunge router to create a trench to accommodate a pre-woven rattan sheet and spline.. The photos show my abortive attempt at hand weaving a seat thru' to finished product
