DESCRIPTION

Ideal for furniture repair or upcycling, this 100% handwoven natural rattan webbing blends well with antique and modern pieces. It can also be used as a perforated screen for kitchen cabinets, wardrobe doors, caravan cabinetry, and as decorative panels for restaurants, bars, and shop fit outs.

NOTE: One full roll is 15m in length. We will cut it to the length based on your order and send it as a single piece.

For example, if you need 2.5m in length, please select your desired width and add 2 quantities of 1m and 1 quantity of 0.5m. We will send you a single piece 2.5m length.

KEY FEATURES

  • Material: Natural rattan cane
  • Weave Pattern: Open weave Hexagonal Pattern
  • Colour: Semi Bleached
  • Standard widths available: 45, 50, 60, 90cm
  • Panel thickness: Approximately 2mm
  • Indoor use only
  • Suitable for paint or stain

DIY TIPS

  • Most common ways of fastening the webbing include stapling the overhangs on the back of timber frame, preferably with a rebate and finish off with timber trim. For furniture restoration, clean out the existing groove from debris and fit the webbing with wood glue and new rattan core pith (usually 1mm smaller than size of groove). To secure webbing directly onto panel backing, use contact adhesive (webbing must be dry for this method).
  • We recommend soaking the product in water for 15-20 minutes to make it more pliable and easy to work with. After fastening, the rattan webbing will tighten as it dries off.
  • We do not recommend sealing the rattan webbing on the back side with lacquer varnish or paint. The back side is porous and it allows the rattan cane to breathe, sealing it will make it brittle in the long run.
  • Maintain using boiled linseed oil or orange oil for longevity, but expect the rattan colour to darken with age.
  • It is common for the rattan webbing to slightly loosen over prolonged periods of high humidity, but will tighten again when conditions are drier.

    Great people to deal with!

I'm building some overhead cabinet doors with rattan inserts for my on-site caravan. The people at DFF have been very helpful, even ringing me at 6.30pm to provide advice. I wouldn't even think of getting my material from somewhere else!

Hi Peter, thanks for your feedback.
It was a pleasure speaking with you and we wish you all the best with your caravan project!
